About CONICET

Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas

The National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) is the main institution in charge of the promotion of science and technology in Argentina. It’s mission is to promote scientific and technical activities through all the country and its different fields of knowledge.

CONICET works as a national regional network of 190 Research Units. It has over 7.400 researchers and supports 9.000 doctoral and postdoctoral fellows, most of them at public universities. More than 65% of doctoral fellowships in Argentina are funded by CONICET.

International cooperation plays a leading role in the field of Argentine science and technology, promoting new developments with added value.

At the same time, CONICET is committed to establish lasting and fruitful linkages with the International scientific community. CONICET covers a broad range of programmes that contribute to scientific exchange, training and new joint developments with international institutions.
