Clean and Renewable Energy Technologies via Chemical Route (8298)

November 27, 2017 – December 02, 2017

Location: JNCASR, Jakkur Campus, Bangalore, India

The objective of organizing such a school is 1) to bring together researchers in various fields, such as, physics and chemistry (both experimental and theoretical) from all over the world, 2) to expose the students and the young researchers of various fields to the most currently demand renewable energy and 3) to provide a forum for discussion with experts in the field of chemistry and physics of various renewable energy techniques.

The fast depletion of non-renewable fossil fuels has triggered a huge uncertainty on the sustainability of our future energy, which stands primarily on coal. This has inevitably forced the human kind to explore other alternative sources of energy via chemical route. There has been large number of studies by scientists with expertise varying from chemistry, physics to engineering, for the development of various methods and materials for the efficient conversion and production of clean and renewable energy over the last few decades.

In this school we will be discussing some of the aspects of renewable energy and they are listed below: a) Hydrogen and Fuel Cell b) Battery and Supercapcitors d) Thermoelectric devices e) Water Splitting f) Biomass utilization and conversion g) Photovoltaic conversion h) Renewable Energy Research and Applications for Industries i) Materials Design and Fabrication for energy devices j) Mechanistic studies via electronic structure calculations.

The goal of this school would be to present a comprehensive picture of the state of the art materials and methods in energy production and conversion via chemical routes, with an emphasis both on theory and experiment. The school is designed to bring together young and established scientists with different expertise and to encourage cross fertilization of ideas among the participants.

More information will be added as it becomes available.
