TECS Mission: Through teaching, research and outreach, the Textile Engineering, Chemistry & Science Department is dedicated to advancing chemistry, color science, and engineering of polymers, fibers, and textiles. The Department is housed on the award-winning Centennial Campus of NC State, which contains more than 60 companies, government agencies, and non-profits, and over 75 university research and academic units, including the Colleges of Textiles and Engineering. Across the street from the College of Textiles is the impressive new and technologically advanced Hunt Library, and the campus also includes a variety of recreational amenities such as walking trails, a lake with a fishing pier, and an 18-hole golf course. Affordable housing is also within easy access to campus.

With over 30 tenured / tenure track members, the TECS department faculty are disciplinarily diverse with PhD degrees in fields as diverse as color, organic, physical and polymer chemistry; biomedical, chemical, electrical, industrial, mechanical and nuclear engineering; fiber and polymer science; material science and engineering; and astronautics. This diversity of educational background provides a unique opportunity to offer undergraduate degrees in Polymer and Color Chemistry (ACS Accredited), Textile Engineering (ABET Accredited), and Textile Technology. Graduate degree offerings include MS degrees in Textile Engineering and Textile Chemistry, and PhD degrees in Fiber and Polymer Science, and Textile Technology Management. Position Responsibilities: The College of Textiles at North Carolina State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position with primary responsibility in the field of nonwovens. A successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for contributing to and leading research and educational programs that involve multi-disciplinary collaboration with faculty across North Carolina State University relating to textile chemistry, polymers, fibers, nonwovens, and/or textiles. Minimum Education/ Experience: PhD in an area of Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Textile Engineering or Technology, Chemistry, or a related field with a strong nonwoven focus, and must be qualified for faculty appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the premier department for polymer, chemistry, fiber, nonwoven, and textile education and research.
