A NIH-funded postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Markey Cancer Center (an NCI designated Cancer Center), University of Kentucky. The group investigates underlying mechanisms that control colorectal cancer progression and metastasis in the levels of both transcription and translation. We particularly focus on understanding regulatory pathways, gene/microRNA functions, and targeting these with new therapeutics. For more information, see examples of recent research: Cancer Cell, 2010; Oncogene, 2014; Oncotarget, 2014 and 2015; and the web page: http://pharmacology.med.uky.edu/users/sqi223.
Candidates with a PhD degree with strong hands-on experience in cell/molecular biology, signaling transduction, biochemistry, murine models of cancer, and/or genomics are encouraged to apply. Bioinformatics skills are not required but would be considered a plus. We are looking for eager, independent and self-motivated scientists with critical thinking ability.
