Applications are invited for a probationary (tenure-track) appointment in the area of Materials Engineering.
Candidates in all related fields are encouraged to apply but special consideration will be given to applicants with strengths in mechanical properties of materials, computational materials, and experimental characterization of advanced materials.
The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering (MME) effective July 1, 2016. Western Engineering seeks energetic and dynamic candidates who will be able to contribute to the teaching and research mission of the MME Department.
The successful candidate will have a PhD degree in Materials Engineering or relevant similar field, demonstrated research output in high quality academic journals, and be eligible for PEng registration.
The candidate will be expected to develop and lead an active, internationally recognized research program in materials engineering, attract external research funding, supervise graduate students, collaborate with Western faculty, and participate in other educational and professional activities including administrative duties. In addition, the candidate must have a demonstrated record of successful teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level as he/she will be expected to teach a variety of introductory and advanced materials engineering courses of interest to the Department including courses on mechanical properties of materials. He/she will also be strongly encouraged to build collaborations with other MME researchers at the International Composite Research Centre (ICRC).
