Research Area: (1)Strongly correlated systems: Variational theory of the high temperature superconducting state; role of strong projection in generating two energy scales for pairing and coherence; nature of low lying excitations; several predictions for experiments. (2) Conducting-Non-conducting transitions: (a) s-wave homogeneous superconductors with non-magnetic disorder: formation of SC blobs, SC to gapped insulator transition driven by phase fluctuations. (b) Disordered Mott insulators: formation of a novel metallic phase sandwiched between a Mott and highly localized phases. (c) Disordered d-wave cuprates: Robust nodes due to the interplay of disorder and interactions. (3) Cold atoms: (a) Bosons in Optical lattices: Superfluid to Mott transition, novel excitations. (b) BCS-BEC crossover: nature of pseudogap state, unequal fermion populations and FFLO states
