Research Area: My research group investigates emergent phenomena associated with quantum transport in excited states of nanostructured assemblies. We draw on quantum many-body theory for analysis and employ density functional, density matrix and many-body perturbation computational strategies to address fundamental questions in collaboration with colleagues who emphasize experimental methods of inquiry. The associated calculations are demanding, so high performance computing is an important component of both research and instruction in my group. Our investigations tend to focus on electron/phonon dynamics in response to optical interactions with matter. While there is a strong element of computational inquiry to our research, everything we do relies on a thorough understanding of the theory of condensed matter many-body physics.
